There are four race categories: Full Marathon 42.195km, Half Marathon 21km, 10.5km Challenge and 3km Fun Run/Walk. The start and finish point of the various races is Thuwunnabhumi Event Park with the race routes taking runners past iconic sites in Yangon.

  • Participants registered under the local category will be required to present their identification documents for verification status. Any participant without the proper identification documents is deemed as an international participant and will be required to pay the differences to match the international rates or forfeit the race slot without refund. NOTE: Upon registration, fees reflected will be strictly determined by nationality.

Prize money will be awarded to the first three male and female winners of the 42.195km Full Marathon, 21km Half Marathon and the 10km Challenge. The prize breakdown in USD:

All YYIM participants will receive a Race Medal upon completion of race for all categories – Full Marathon (42.195km), Half Marathon (21km), 10.5km Challenge and the 3km Fun Run/Walk. A finisher T-shirt will also be given to runners who complete the Full Marathon category.

  1. Participants must enter their Team Name at the point of registration to be eligible for the Team Prizes.
  2. The top 5 timing from each team, regardless of gender, will be taken for 21KM & 10KM Team of 5.
  3. Winning team of the Team Prizes will be announced on the event day during the Prize Presentation ceremony.
  4. Complimentary slots and all Yoma affiliated team are not eligible for the Team Prizes.

All participants must collect their Race Entry Pack during the collection period. If participants are unable to collect their Race Entry Pack in person, they may authorize a representative in accordance with the following procedure :
  1. Signed copy of the authorization letter
  2. Copy of the participant’s race confirmation
  3. Copy of the participant’s photo ID

Runners under the age of 18 years old (as of 1 January 2020) are required to submit the indemnity form signed by a parent/guardian during the Race Pack Collection.

Currency (Kyats)

Myanmar uses Kyats – the most efficient way of getting money is exchanging US dollars at one of the many money exchange outlets. USD are widely accepted for official things like accommodation and transportation. For day to day necessities like food, it’s important to exchange USD into Kyats. It should also be noted that any US Dollars should be in good condition, locals will generally not accept any worn, creased, dirty, torn or marked notes. ATM’s are now available in selected locations in Yangon.



A participant must be 16 years and above on Dec 31, 2019 to participate in either the Half Marathon or Full Marathon category. A participant must be 12 years and above on Dec 31, 2019 to participate in either the 10KM Challenge category. A participant must be 10 years and above for the YOMA 3KM Fun Run category. Kids under 10 years old are to be accompanied by an adult. Any Participant below the age of 18 is required to seek parental/guardian consent and complete the relevant indemnity form when registering online, failing which the Race Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to that Participant.

All participants can register via www.yomayangonmarathon.com. International runners will pay with Debit/ Credit (VISA or Master Card). Locals (Myanmar Nationality) can pay with MPU cards, Convenience stores and Wave Money.

Add “Please check if your MPU Card is registered for E-Commerce before making payment. You can check using the link below: www.mpu-ecommerce.com/Payment/MPUOnlineEnrollment.aspx Payment by MPU Card for Myanmar Nationals only. Fill in your card number and expiry date. After that, click the “GET OTP” button. An OTP code will be sent to you through your registered phone number for MPU card or to your email address. Click CONFIRM PAYMENT to complete the payment process.

Registration is only confirmed upon successful payment and issuance of a confirmation email. If you did not receive your confirmation slip after registration, please email : info@yomayangonmarathon.com with your personal particulars.

Upon the completion of a successful registration, there will be no fee refund for a Participant who does not eventually take part in the race, for any reason whatsoever.

After the registration, participants are strictly not allowed to transfer his or her race entry to another party.

Thuwannabhumi Event Park, Yangon.

There are four categories; Full Marathon (42.195KM), Half Marathon (21.1KM), Challenge (10 KM), YOMA 3KM Fun Run.

The start times for the different races have yet to be confirmed.

No, runners won’t be entitled to the finisher’s item such as the finisher medal if they don’t complete the race in the stipulated time-frame.

Only registered runners wearing their assigned Bib Number will be allowed on the race course.

Wheeled devices including, but not limited to, jogging strollers, walking strollers, roller blades, bicycles, scooters, wheelchairs and skateboards, are not permitted on the course, except for official race and medical vehicles. 

Pets (horses, dogs, cats or other animals) will not be allowed on the course and race site or village on race day.

Race Entry Pack includes the race bib, timing device, Event Singlet, and other novelties.

Race kit collection is between 16 January and 18 January at Thuwanna Bhumi Event Park from 9:30am to 4:30pm daily.

There is a baggage check-in area at the start.

There will be course makers along the race routes.

There will be an awards ceremony.

Race Timings will be recorded using the Timing Chip, an electronic chip that is attached to the back of the Race Bib (Available for 10km and Half and Full marathon runners only). Race Timings will not be recorded for the YOMA 3KM Fun Run participants as it is not a timed race category.

Runners are to use their Timing Chip correctly. Runners who wear the Timing Chips incorrectly (or not at all), or if they are not recorded at one of the mats, will not be able to receive their finishing timings or results (Available for 10km and Half and Full marathon runners only). The Timing Chip is not applicable to YOMA 3KM Fun Run participants as it is not a timed race category.

All Participants who successfully complete the race in his or her chosen race category will be awarded an e-Certificate of Participation. The e-Certificate of Participation will be made available on the official website within a month after the race. This entitlement will not apply to Participants who are unable to complete the race within the stipulated cut-off timings, are disqualified or did not complete the race. Applicable only to 10km, 21.1km Half marathon and 42.195km Full Marathon participants. The e-Certificate of Participation is not applicable to YOMA 3KM Fun Run participants as it is not a timed race category.

Participants are strongly advised to stop your race and alert the nearest marshal if there are injured or otherwise unable to finish the race.

There is a cut-off time for the Yoma Yangon International Marathon 2020 as follows;
