Myanmar uses Kyats – the most efficient way of getting money is exchanging US dollars at one of the many money exchange outlets. USD are widely accepted for official things like accommodation and transportation. For day to day necessities like food, it’s important to exchange USD into Kyats. It should also be noted that any US Dollars should be in good condition, locals will generally not accept any worn, creased, dirty, torn or marked notes. ATM’s are now available in selected locations in Yangon.
